My works within this current time frame refer to how I feel when I think about doing portraiture for so long. They show from the beginning, my intensive technicality that I tried to implement within that series, and how it drove me mad. I started to focus on dysphoria and how I ended up implementing that into my technicalities. Straying away from the perfect and aiming towards the imperfect to make the work unlike anything else anybody has ever seen.
I have started to do this by simplifying the color palette, as well as the figures.I did not really have a reference, or an idea of whose work I would want to relate to. This idea came purely from my lack of patience. The figures grew to have a distortion factor to them, to make them even more out of the realm of expected. It helped me find a way to start finding my own style, as well as interests. this implemented to the work I am working on this quarter and the color scheme.
I do believe that the work this quarter was also influenced by the types of brush strokes from Edgar Degas, and how he had such loose strokes. It became an expected part of his work as well as a complementary one. I would like it to become a part of mine as well, but I am aware THAT I would have to work a bit harder and think a bit more to finalize that idea.
